Bio Extended
It was Melanie’s first taste of missions that ignited her songwriting in her early teens as God was laying out the foundations for His purposes in her life and her ultimate calling to full-time ministry; but not before years of growing, refining and testing.
In 2004, on the heels of Georgia’s Rose Revolution, God moved Melanie, her husband Jim and daughter Madison Grace (now 9) to the country of Georgia. As Melanie spent time in this foreign land, God birthed a new song in her heart through quality time in His Word and a purposeful prayer life. At a piano in their rented home, crafted in communist times labeled Red October, a revolution began in Melanie’s heart. This is where God gave Melanie the scripture-inspired fully-orchestrated songs on her debut CD, A New Thing, released in June 2006. In God’s sovereign plan, He led Melanie through language and cultural barriers to produce a ministry tool to reach thousands from post-soviet Georgia to Georgia, USA.
In May 2007, Melanie ministered in music at Canada’s National Day of Prayer. At that time, only God knew that a few weeks later He would lead her family on an unplanned faith journey of music ministry from post-soviet Georgia through the southeastern US and lead them back again to Georgia for missions.
In August 2008, just days before the Russians advanced into Georgia, God began to stir in the Hart family to prepare to return to Canada. Mid-August, they left Georgia for Edmonton, Alberta. As the bombs fell on Tbilisi, and the Georgians gathered at Parliament, one block away Melanie was finishing her latest release, Good Jesus, listening to the chants of war and patriotism by the Georgian people she had come to love.
Melanie's unique concert experience has proven to challenge believers as well as draw seekers into a better understanding of the abundant life Jesus promises. Her music and authentic passionate style appeals to all age groups from every walk of life, and has been understood and welcomed in many inter-denominational settings and has superseded cultural barriers. She now ministers through devotional concerts and speaking to audiences at retreats and conferences using heartfelt testimony of the healing and restoration that she's personally experienced through her collections of original music and compelling testimonies and most importantly bringing the Word of God to life. Melanie Hart’s music and ministry has been featured on 100 Huntley Street (May 2007 & November 2008), and played on various independent radio stations throughout Canada and the US.
In October 2008, Melanie performed her new title track, Good Jesus, for the Lead Like Jesus REVOLUTION event simulcast to 1,300 churches across Canada and throughout the US. It was a great honor to have a day of ministry with modern-day leaders, authors and ministry mentors such as Phyllis Hendry, President & CEO of Lead Like Jesus, and authors Ken Blanchard, John Ortberg and Phil Hodges.
In June 2009, God moved the family once again to the community of Gardom Lake (between Enderby and Salmon Arm, BC). Broadview Evangelical Free Church has become the home church to the Hart family where she ministers in music and leads a worship team.
In the fall of 2009, Jim and Melanie Hart released Good Jesus, a music video that was filmed with the help of a special and supportive community, Washington, GA. The Hart’s are blessed to work with Dove Award and Grammy Nominee Singer/Songwriter and Producer Dave Moody, President of Lamon Records/Elevating Entertainment.
A New Thing continues… He's been a Good Jesus... and she'll be the first one to give Him all the glory!
